Nothing can beat the smell of Lilac in the Spring. Nothing. When I was visiting my Mama last week, I couldn't resist attempting to make some Lilac Oil.
I used Grape Seed Oilinstead of Olive Oil for two reasons.
1) My husband appears to have a mild allergy to Olive Oil on his skin.
2) I was hoping that the mild smell of Grape Seed Oil wouldn't mask the smell of the Lilac.
Check out this post on how to make a Solar Infused Oil. (This is NOT making an Essential Oil where tons and tons of flowers are used in the process of making oil from steam distillation).
Lilac is said to have mild analgesic and antiseptic properties and so I am planning on using this Oil to make a Salve for treating minor cuts and bruises (plus a little Comfrey and Yarrow Oil).
I'm hoping a little bit of that lovely Lilac smell will remain and help put a smile on my face whenever I use it.
Spring Time....it's definitely my favorite! What do you love about Spring?
How did the lilac oil turn out? Lilac is not something you hear much about using to create infused oils
